Could your child be anxious?

If you have child who is struggling with anxiety then you will know how stressful that it is to witness as their parent.

So I was delighted to come across an article and useful quizz to help identify children who are anxious, not stressed!!

This comes from a a site I regularly follow and has great articles on parenthood issues especially for children with additional needs - have a browse on www.understood.org

Please note the convenient checklist below is created by Understood.org and we claim no credit for the brilliance of their work, we simply support them and spread the word!

Now, in case you identify that your child is indeed suffering from anxiety, but don't have the funds for speech therapy and counselling or psychological services, I thought I would also share another brilliant online resource recommended by my colleague, Gabi Diamond (Occupational Therapist)... The Brave Program.

BRAVE is "an online, psychological program for the treatment of childhood and adolescent anxiety.
The Program was developed by a team of researchers at the University of Queensland. As a result, the Program is based on actual research evidence, and parents can rest assured their child is receiving a high quality treatment program.
BRAVE is based on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), the most effective method for overcoming anxiety in children and teenagers. Around 80% of children are free of anxiety after completing the therapist-assisted, BRAVE-Online Program.
BRAVE can be completed in your own home, at your own pace, and at a time that suits you. You can also have a BRAVE Trainer help you through the program, someone who works with you to overcome your anxiety. They will email you each week, and even talk to you over the phone during the program."

Go to www.BRAVE-ONLINE.com

My child and I started this free online course this past week and so far so good! It's well designed, child friendly and FREE, so why not give it a try!
